Earth Week (April) was celebrated at Halton Region with two events – an Electric Vehicle showcase and panel, featuring staff owned vehicles and a webinar featuring Sheila Watt-Cloutier, a renowned Inuit author and Nobel prize nominee.
Earth Week in 2025 was celebrated at Halton Region with a webinar for staff with Bob McDonald of CBC’s Quirks and Quarks, a Climate Café, a competition to name the Region’s new electric forklifts and the release of the Climate Dashboard and Climate Change Training module.
Nearly 150 scouts and their families planted 300 trees at the Halton Waste Management Site on April 26, 2025, in celebration of Earth Day and Arbour Day. Halton Regional Chair, Gary Carr, highlighted the long-standing tradition of the tree planting event at the Halton Waste Management Site, emphasizing its role in teaching youth about environmental responsibility and the importance of waste management in regional sustainability.
