    HCHC Efficiency Measures

    In 2024, Halton Community Housing Corporation (HCHC) was awarded $7 million from the Federal government (CMHC) to undertake energy efficiency measures, with an additional $16.9 million committed by the Region through the annual capital budget. HCHC is currently on track to meet the goal of achieving a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the end of 2025 for its building portfolio through a series of sub projects on fuel switching and building optimization.

    A Consultant has been engaged to prepare detailed designs for optimizing operational efficiencies of the Halton Waste Management Site.

    A Buildings Action Table has been established as part of the Climate Action Response Team (CART) to support and coordinate building efficiency and optimization.

    Micro Turbine at Mid Halton WWTP

    The micro-hydro turbine at the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant was upgraded, resulting in greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions of 19 tCO2e.
