A Consultant has been engaged to prepare detailed designs for optimizing operational efficiencies of the Halton Waste Management Site.
A Buildings Action Table has been established as part of the Climate Action Response Team (CART) to support and coordinate building efficiency and optimization.
The micro-hydro turbine at the Mid-Halton Wastewater Treatment Plant was upgraded, resulting in greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions of 19 tCO2e.
In 2024, Halton Community Housing Corporation (HCHC) was awarded $7 million from the Federal government (CMHC) to undertake energy efficiency measures, with an additional $16.9 million committed by the Region through the annual capital budget. HCHC is currently on track to meet the goal of achieving a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the end of 2025 for its building portfolio through a series of sub projects on fuel switching and building optimization.
