The inclusion of requirements for alternative fuel sources in the next waste collection contract has been endorsed by Regional Council, as outlined in report PW-14-24. This initiative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Region's contracted waste management vehicles by integrating cleaner fuel options.
Electrical and structural assessments have been completed for nine regional facilities. Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels will be installed as part of scheduled roof replacements. Design work will begin in Q4 2024, with construction planned for 2025.
