CL2Explore Climate considerations to be incorporated into internal policies and reports

Purpose

Currently, many other municipalities and Regions include a climate considerations component in their Council reports, including Burlington, Halton Hills and Oakville. It is recommended Halton aligns with current practice and ensures that climate impacts, risks, and vulnerabilities are considered as part of the decision-making process.

    Regional Climate Policy Review

    A review of the Region’s climate related policies and benchmarking was initiated in 2024 and will continue into 2025 to determine needs and next steps.

    Integration of an ESG Lens

    A number of presentations, external meetings, and educational activities have engaged key regional staff to support knowledge mobilization around the evaluation and integration of an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) lens to enhance reporting mechanisms, ensuring alignment with broader sustainability and corporate responsibility goals.
